Trent matches Ozil: Five key things to know…

Alexander-Arnold assisted for the fifth consecutive PL game against Norwich on Friday.

He is the first player in the English top-flight to do so since Mesut Ozil in 2015.

Ozil and Alexander-Arnold are two of just eight players to achieve that feat.

They’re joined by Darren Anderton, Ryan Giggs, Gianfranco Zola, Theirry Henry, Antonio Valencia and Cesc Fabregas.

That made it five games in a row where Alexander-Arnold had set up a goal, a feat last achieved by Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil in 2015, making him just the eighth player to do so.

Jurgen Klopp’s men ran out 4-1 winners at Anfield to kick off their 2019/20 campaign in fine style, with a Grant Hanley own goal, a Mohamed Salah strike and headers from Van Dijk and Divock Origi doing the damage for the Reds.

After the game, Alexander-Arnold was asked by Gary Neville how he is looking to improve this season after providing more assists (12) than any other Liverpool player during 2018/19.

The England international said he was looking to “keep the same output” as last season, while also looking to double down on his defensive duties.

“I think, obviously, keep the same output, create as many chances as I can for the team,” Alexander-Arnold said.

“The way that we play with full-backs in this team is getting up and defending as well.

“No matter what, you can always improve. Obviously, we want to keep more clean sheets than we did last season. We kept a lot but I think we can still get better.”

Liverpool take on Europa League holders Chelsea in the European Super Cup on Wednesday evening.
